The important thing that you can keep in your mind whenever you are using the bowls needs to be appropriately maintained. If they are supported with reasonable care, they can last for a very long time.

The bamboo bowls should not be placed in the dishwasher or soaked in water for a long time. If you use the dishwasher, then the machine’s high heat will make the bamboo crack. If we keep the bamboo bowls in water for more time, they will swell up. 

After the use:

  1. Clean the bowl by wiping it off, and then go for washing it in warm water. You can use mild detergent or soap.
  2. Always use a soft sponge or a brush to clean the bamboo bowl.
  3. Do not use abrasive cleaners or any kinds of tools.

After cleaning properly, wipe off the extra water through the soft cloth and then keep the bowls to air-dry completely. 

Regular maintenance is required for keeping the bamboo quality in a good manner. As wood dry out and crack, the same can happen with the bamboo. To avoid the over-drying of the bamboo bowls, you should coat the bamboo bowl with oil periodically. You can give a light oil coating over it. As for oil, you can go for food-grade mineral oil quality or any mineral mixed oil with beeswax. Try to avoid the use of nut oils, as they can easily rancid the bowls. For the application of the oil, you can use a soft cloth. Give the oil coating in the bowl for an hour or overnight. Allow them to absorb the oil, and then you can wipe off the excess oil.

Bamboos are very hard and sturdy, but there might be something that can also damage the bamboo quality. Never use the bowls in the microwave. You can heat the food in the microwave container to transfer that food to the bamboo bowls later. Try to avoid serving very hot or wet food in the bamboo bowls. You can serve the salads or soups in those bowls. Avoid storing indirect bowl heat. Try to keep the bamboo bowls in a dry place so that the air can circulate through them. If you are keeping the bowls in a nested position, try to use the tissue paper in between to help prevent moisture build-up. 

If you notice any kind of stickiness in the bowl, it may be due to excess vegetable oils. For correcting it, use some lemon juice and try to brush the sticky side of the bowl. 

Then, rinse the bowl and keep it for drying. After the drying of the bowl, apply some mineral oil through it. If you have some issues with a bad odor coming from your bowl, the lemon juice also helps you treat it. It can also help reduce the strains. The use of mineral oil is very much effective in keeping the bamboo bowls for a long time. You can notice the change of colors. The changing in color also is a quality of bamboo bowls, and it is quite adorable.
